Dear Parents,

Please read the following guidance.

Our preschool phone will be checked regularly for the first 6 days of the Christmas break in case we need to help identify close contacts to self-isolate in the event of a positive test result.

Department for Education

Christmas Break/End of Term - advice for schools

  • Where a child or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, the school should not be contacted. Parents/carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

  • For the first 6 days after school ends, if a child or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school, the school is advised to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in school.

  • School staff are not asked to remain on-call or conduct any contact tracing more than 6 days after the final day of teaching. Where a schools’ last teaching day is on Friday 18th December, there should be no pupil contact tracing asks beyond Thursday 24th December.

  • For the first 6 days after the end of term, schools are not asked to be on-call at all times. Staff responsible for contact tracing may designate a limited period of the day to receive notification of positive cases and advise close contacts to self-isolate (this can be done by text or email). The Department for Education coronavirus (COVID-19) helpline and PHE advice service are available to support with any queries you have about positive cases in your school.

  • Where children are required to self-isolate due to contact with a positive case after the first 6 days following the end of term, schools do not need to be informed about their absence until the first day of the new term (4th January 2021).

Dear Parents,

We will be re-opening on Monday 30th November 2020, following a two week self-isolation period. Our preschool constantly reviews the policies and procedures we have in place and with covid-19 cases seemingly on the rise in our local area, we have decided to make a few changes to our previous policies:

  • Parents are to wear a face mask/covering when waiting outside of the preschool.

  • One parent/carer to drop off/collect their child.

  • Staff will discreetly test the children's temperatures every morning as they arrive in the foyer area. If they are found to have a high temperature, they will be collected immediately by their parents.

  • Staff will wear face masks when they're talking to parents outside of preschool. If a staff member is exempt from wearing a mask, a face shield/visor shall be worn instead.

We will continue with our staggered timings i.e.

older children 9:15-12.15 (1:00 Mondays, 2:45 Thursdays)

younger children 9:30-12:30

Please be prompt in dropping off and collecting your child to avoid unnecessary queuing.

Copies of our full covid-19 policies can be found below. If you have any queries, please contact Anne on 07968 019759 or email anne@riversidekindergarten.co.uk

Returning to preschool September 2020

We hope you've all had a lovely summer break with your little ones! We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 7th September. Thankfully, life is slowly returning to normal but there are still measures in place to help us to keep everyone safe at preschool. Early years settings no longer need to operate in 'bubbles' so all children and staff will now be together in the same shared spaces.

We have attached a more detailed policy below but here is a brief outline of our procedures which we be in effect this term:

1)  There will be staggered drop off and and pick up times -

R5 children: 9.15- 12.15 (1.00 Mon, 2.45 Thurs)

Younger children:  9.30 - 12.30

Please be prompt when dropping off and collecting your child.

2) Children to attend one setting only please.

3)  Parents are still not permitted into the building and will queue in the car park/ grass area, remaining socially distant from one another. Please keep siblings close to you at all times. The car park will operate as a one-way system.

4)  Personal belongings are to be kept to a minimum please to reduce transmission between preschool and home. Therefore, R5 children will not require a P.E. kit for the foreseeable future.

5)  To reduce transmission, children's craft will be kept at preschool and newsletters etc will be emailed and/or posted on our website and Facebook page.

6)  Children do not require face masks.

7)  Please do not send your child to preschool if they are showing symptoms of coronavirus i.e. a high temperature, a new and persistent cough or a loss of taste or smell.

Government guidance states all staff and parents must be aware of the NHS Test & Trace service so we have included some information for your records.

Thank you all for your continued understanding and cooperation in these unprecedented times. We understand some parents and children will be feeling nervous and anxious about returning to preschool. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate in contacting us.

We're looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Kind regards,

The Riverside Team.
